The Holiday Scheme at the University of Warwick offers an inspiring range of educational, cultural and sporting activities to challenge, entertain and enthuse children using the fantastic resources available on campus; developing the children's knowledge and skills while enabling them to make friends and have plenty of fun.
We are currently seeking responsible and enthusiastic Scheme Managers who are passionate about working with children and managing day to day operations. Scheme Managers are responsible for ensuring Holiday Scheme staff deliver fun, educational and stimulating activities. The role requires working in partnership with professional coaches and trainers to support the delivery of workshops and planning each day in accordance with the activity plan. One of the most significant requirements of the role is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children attending; being competent in University procedures and policies.
The Scheme Manager will be responsible for the day to day management of Holiday Scheme, including the deployment of staff to meet required staffing levels at all times. The Manager will ensure that information held on individual children is current and, where appropriate, passing on important information for specific children to Holiday school leaders, coaches and other professionals. This involves reporting any concerns about specific children or other members of staff to the scheme coordinator and/or Head of Children’s Services, including any safe guarding issues.
The Manager will work in equal partnership with the Holiday Scheme Education and Welfare Officer to ensure the smooth running of the Holiday Scheme, the professional delivery of the Holiday Scheme aims and the safety and wellbeing of the children attending, including conducting risk assessments.
The successful candidate will be a Post Graduate Student or qualified teaching assistant or youth worker, with previous experience leading and managing a team, and working with children aged 5-14 years. The candidate will be empathetic to the children's needs, and be able to communicate and interact with the young people through an interest in the activities provided.
The Scheme Manager will have practical knowledge of Safe Guarding procedures, able to achieve a DBS clearance and will use initiative to solve problems and organise the Holiday Scheme.
The holiday scheme is due to run from Monday 19th Feb until Friday 23rd Feb. Good availability during this week is essential. There are also opportunities to work during Easter, May and summer.
