As a HGV Technician you will test drive vehicles, test components and systems, use equipment such as infrared engine analysers, compression gauges & computerised diagnostic devices, examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions, repair, reline, replace & adjust brakes, perform routine & scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrication and tune-ups, repair and service air conditioning, heating, engine-cooling & electrical systems.
You will be dealing with customers to obtain descriptions of vehicle problems, discussing work to be performed and identifying future repair requirements, following checklists to ensure all important parts are examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas.
The successful candidate will have a relevant HGV automotive background and will hold a recognised qualification, NVQ / City & Guilds, IMI or equivalent. Dealership experience is advantageous but not essential. You must own your own tools and hold a full UK driving licence.
