HGV Class 1 C+E Driver

Our client based in Amesbury, Wiltshire, are looking for a number of HGV Class 1 drivers to join their team on an ongoing, potential temporary to permanent contract.

The management of our client are all ex/current drivers and understand the demands and difficulties that a Class 1 driver can come up against on the road on a day to day basis. They have worked extremely hard to ensure the routes are realistic and you can complete these in a timely manner. Our client will also work with you moving forward to ensure you stay on the contract long term & that they have a happy, dedicated team.
Training of 5 days minimum is provided before you go out on the road by yourself.

Daily duties are as follows:

Driving a Class 1 vehicle, you will be completing 1-2 drops per route direct in to store. Product is in cages, so deliveries are made with the use of a tail-lift and by pushing the cages in to the back of the stores. Most routes are to one store only, depending on location.

Usual shift is:

Pick up trailer, drive for 2-3 hours to location, tip (approx 2 hours), take your 45 minute break, drive back with empty cages.
Working week is 5 days out of 7 on a shift rota. Our client will work with you to ensure you work the days you want (i.e. if you don’t want to work every weekend, you won’t) but we do expect a level of flexibility from the driver.
Start times vary, depending on the route - but we have requirements for both day and night drivers.
