The village of South Ormsby is an estate of c3000 acres nestled within the Lincolnshire Wolds and is an area of outstanding natural beauty, rich in wildlife.
The new custodians of the South Ormsby Estate are restoring the heritage of the estate and rejuvenating the local economy. Building upon a historic past and using the latest technology, their vision is to create the best place to invest, work, live, play and retire to.
The Role:Herd Manager – Agriculture and Farming
The Estate is home to 120 endangered, breeding Lincoln Red cattle out of a total of just 450 in the UK and requires a passionate individual to assist in the day-to-day care of the cattle as well as identifying and developing future commercial opportunities for the Estate.
The Estate has existing experienced Cattle Keepers which will support you and help you learn all there is to know about making the Estate’s pedigree Lincoln herd profitable.
Responsibilities: Herd Manager – Agriculture and Farming
- Ensure the Health and wellbeing of cattle is safeguarded from birth to departure from the farm.
- Implement up-to-date herd health plans to prevent and treat disease.
- Recording all incidences of illness or injury, births and deaths and the treatments administered.
- Identifying commercial opportunities relating to the herd.
Experience Required:Herd Manager – Agriculture and Farming
- Must hold a relevant qualification in an agricultural or environmental discipline.
- Exposure to and an interest in branding and marketing.
