Healthcare Assistant - 36 hours per week (3 x12 hour shifts)
We are looking for Healthcare Assistants to work within our care home, which is a complex care centre, and to be responsible for assisting members of our nursing team in providing the highest standard of physical, psychological, social and spiritual care for our patients, their relatives and friends within individual care plans.
What sets our care home apart from others is our state of the art amenities and our commitment to facilitate control and independence for our residents. Our residents range in age from 20 years old, and have high dependency nursing needs due to spinal and/or brain injury. This includes patients who are dependent on using long term mechanical ventilators and those who have tracheostomy. We pride ourselves on providing a high quality and friendly environment for our residents, as this is their home.
The home has 45 individual bedrooms and Healthcare Assistants are responsible for providing the highest possible standard of care for patients. They are responsible for assisting with mobility and feeding residents where required as well as assisting with personal care and organising and participating in social activities.
No specific qualifications are needed, although experience of working in a residential nursing home or a home care environment would be an advantage.
You must have basic reading and writing skills and also be willing to learn. You will have experience of and enjoy working in a team and have good communication skills.
Staff are required to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
We provide training, mentorship and supervision for Healthcare Assistants.
The Job includes the following tasks:
To assist qualified staff in providing the highest possible standard of care for patients in our complex care centre.
To assist in the distribution of meals and drinks and with feeding patients where required.
To assist patients with personal care and their needs, encouraging self-care whenever possible.
To communicate all relevant information about patients to the person in charge of the shift.
To assist in providing a homely, welcoming and friendly and professional environment where relatives may participate appropriately as partners within the caring team.
The postholder should be able to work both days and nights in rotation at our home at Fairlie House.
Shifts are 12 hours either:
- 8.00am - 8.00pm
- 8.00pm - 8.00am
We pay for the full 12-hour shift, so your breaks are paid for. We ask staff to work 3 shifts a week (36 hours per week) including weekends and Bank Holidays on a rota basis. Additional shifts are available.

Pay: £7.91 per hour Monday-Friday & £8.41 per hour during the weekend.
