We are currently seeking a Referral Coordinator to join our Administration Hub, providing support for a National Diabetes Prevention Programme (NDPP). This lifestyle intervention is delivered by a team of Health and Wellbeing Coaches and Advisors and focuses on helping service users to reduce their risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes.

This role involves management of the NHS referral process which includes processing all GP referrals and utilising our new Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software which reads all electronic referrals. This role would suit someone who has similar experience working within a public health/promotion environment and who is accustomed to handling medical information in a sensitive and accurate manner.

Job Scope:

Responsible for undertaking all administration duties required to ensure GP practice referrals are successfully imported into our patient management system. This includes:

  • Daily monitoring and upkeep of NHS inboxes
  • Assessing eligibility on all referrals received and replying with appropriate acknowledgements
  • Carry out systematic enquiries on behalf of GP’s when requested
  • Utilising the OCR software to process referrals to prepare for upload to our patient management system
  • Cleansing the referral export prior to upload to ensure quality data
  • Making outbound phone calls to GP practices where necessary to collect missing referral data

About you:

For this role you must have a have high level of IT literacy and attention to detail. You must also be able to work independently, quickly and have confidence in problem-solving.

On a daily basis you will be required to use Outlook, Excel and Word. You will be required to demonstrate that you have a strong understanding of these programmes and have confidence when using them.
