Health & Safety Officer
Temp - 3-6 months - Part time
£18 - £22 per hour DOE

Macildowie are currently recruiting for a Health & Safety Officer to join a well-established organisation in Nottingham.
The role will be working 3 days per week and will mainly be based from home, with the odd trip to sites across the Nottinghamshire area.

You will support the Head of Corporate Governance in the provision of health and safety advice and guidance to managers and staff ensuring that the health and safety suite of policies, procedures and standard operating procedures are applied in line with values fairly, reasonably and consistently across the organisation.

Role & Responsibilities:
To act as a point of contact for health and safety related enquiries seeking advice/support from the Head of Corporate Governance as required.
To provide information, support and advice to managers to support the prevention and reduction of accidents and incidents in the workplace.
To support the development, review and implementation of organisation wide health and safety policies, procedures and protocols so that appropriate safe working practices can be adopted as required in respect of areas of responsibility.
To support managers in the investigation of accidents, incidents and near misses and assist the development of ways in which to identify and publicise positively and sensitively, lessons learnt from incidents and near misses.
To produce and present reports as required to relevant sub-groups or committees.
To report all RIDDOR reportable incidents to the Health and Safety Executive in accordance with regulatory reporting timelines.
To undertake risk assessments and advise on corrective action as required. Â These may be made up of several components that may be conflicting so a sound knowledge of health and safety legislation is key.
To deliver training relevant to the post.
To assist the Health and Safety Executive and other relevant agencies on matters relating to health and safety.

Ideal Candidate:
Demonstrable experience of working in a health and safety role in a health care setting.
NEBOSH or IOSH certificate as a minimum
Experienced in undertaking risk assessments and advising on appropriate actions to mitigate any risks identified.
Experience of developing and delivering health and safety training to individuals and groups.
Proven ability in decision making and problem solving.
Have strong communication and influencing skills.
Have strong organisational and time management skills.
Ability to recognise and escalate issues as they arise.
