Health & Safety Manager South - £40,000 - £45,000 - Facilities Maintenance Reading

A client of mine is currently recruiting for a HSE Manager to work on a Hard Facilities contract for a key client. This is a mobile role to cover sites in the South. The ideal candidate would be based in the Reading area.
Working hours: 8.00am - 17.00pm

Main Purpose:
The HSE Manager is responsible for the development and provision of regulatory advice, guidance and support. To implement the company and client's corporate strategy for Health and Safety assurance, support the Regional and Site Managers with the management of Health, Safety and Environment throughout the clients UK portfolio and undertake accident investigations and to measure performance against the H&S policy and identify good practice and areas for improvement where required.

Liaise with other H&S manager (North) and dedicated Asbestos/L8 Manager to ensure statutory compliance at all times and adhere to H&S & Compliance contract KPI's/SLA's
To support in the preparation of HSE & Compliance reporting for the client as required and effective interface with client H&S team including joint audits. You will support the Account Director and central H&S/Compliance team in delivering excellence.

Main Job Responsibilities:

Provide support and advice to the Facilities Managers and contract teams to ensure their understanding and implementation of the Client's and the Company's health, safety & environmental systems and to assist in the preparation of adequate and effective Plans / Systems.

Conduct independent inspections to ensure compliance with relevant standards is being achieved on the contract.

Ensure that all statutory compliance certification is current and maintained.

Undertake health & safety performance measurement auditing in accordance with the company's procedures.

Preparation and presentation of effective health & safety training courses, seminars, induction and workshops in accordance with the Client and company policy.

Provide a monthly reconciliation safety report for discussion with the Account Director and Performance Manager.

Develop, maintain and improve working relationships with the client to ensure mutual trust and respect based on superior service delivery.

Person Specification:
Ability to interface at all levels
Excellent communication skills
Excellent time management skills
2 years+ delivering H&S, preferably in an FM environment
Excellent levels of motivation
Experience in use of database measurement and reporting software
Driving licence and ability to attend Siemens sites on both a planned and reactive basis

Ability to think strategically
Reliable and punctual


NEBOSH Diploma/ NVQ 5/ Degree (or equivalent) in Occupational Health & Safety Management
Grad IOSH level or equivalent (with a desire to achieve Chartered status)
ISO approved auditor
Qualification in Environmental Management

Educated to degree (or equivalent) level in management, facilities
management, property or a quality related discipline
