Health & Safety Compliance Officer

Our client is a leading provider of a range of facilities management services to schools, the NHS, leisure centres, hotels and care homes across the North East. Since Covid, they have increased turnover by 50%. They now seek to appoint a Health & Safety Compliance Officer to liaise with multiple M&E sub-contractors across the region to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and policies.

As Health & Safety Compliance Officer, you will:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to relevant laws and regulations
  • Regularly visit client sites across the region
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of compliance programmes
  • Perform root cause analysis on compliance issues to identify underlying problems and recommend solutions
  • Collaborate daily with your Sales colleagues and Office Manager
  • Liaise closely with the company’s 350 M&E sub-contractors
  • Ensure gas certificates, insurances and DBS checks are in place and up-to-date
  • Log and maintain all information on 'Joblogic’ job management software
  • Conduct training sessions for sub contractors on compliance policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Keep abreast of changes to legislation/regulation and act accordingly

As Health & Safety Compliance Officer, you will need:

  • Health & Safety experience gained in a construction/industrial environment
  • Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • To stay updated on changes in legislation and industry standards that may impact the organisation's compliance obligations
  • A NEBOSH General Certificate or Diploma
  • Strong analytical skills, excellent report writing abilities
  • A proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks
  • Preferably knowledge of facilities management
  • A current, clean driving licence

Salary & benefits:

  • £35k
  • Profit-related bonus (payable every Christmas)
  • Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 5pm
  • Paid early finish on a Friday (3.30pm)
