Health & Safety Adviser - Peterborough

My client is an international electricity and gas company and one of the largest investor owned Energy companies in the world. They play a vital role in delivering gas and electricity to many millions of people across Great Britain and North-Eastern US in an efficient, reliable and safe manner.


SHE Advisor working amongst the Compressor Station upgrade at Peterborough which is due to last until 2020.

This SHE Advisor is going to need be a strong personality and speak with key stakeholders about any issues on site, provide training, push the HSE Agenda. Work together in a team consisting of a project supervisor and reporting into the project engineer.

Expectations are to have somebody who have worked in similar roles and be confident.

Health & Safety Adviser

During the delivery of a project, the Project Manager may require a Health and Safety Adviser. The Project Health and Safety Adviser shall be responsible for the following:

 Provide specialist support to the CDM Adviser, for the review and acceptance of the Contractor's Construction Phase Plan prior to commencement of any work

 Ensuring compliance with the Health & Safety contract and SMS requirements

 Promote a SHE culture that engages all employees and delivers continuous improvements in Health and Safety management

 Provide professional advice and support to the Project Manager and CDM Adviser on Health and Safety issues

 Review and comment on contractor risk assessments and method statements to ensure that they comply

 Attend project Health and Safety meetings

 Report on operational Health and Safety performance and make suggestions for improvements

 Ensure any Health and Safety actions and improvements are implemented and effective

 Ensure all works are carried out safely and in accordance with the agreed construction phase plan and approved method statements

 Liaise with the CDMA to ensure the effectiveness of the Construction Phase Plan during the lifecycle of the project

 Support the development and ongoing management of the CDM Risk Register

 Assist with the review of contractor's competence and identification of Health and Safety training needs

 In liaison with the Project Engineer ensure suitable and sufficient sensible monitoring activities are undertaken and reported

 In liaison with the Project Manager / Project Engineer and Contractor determine the project specific implementation of SHE Bulletins / Alerts, Best Practice and Lessons

 Ensure that all SHE events / incidents / accidents / dangerous occurrences are reported to the Project Manager in accordance with the business.

 Undertake or support incident investigations where requested

 Ensure compliance with permits / NRO procedures in accordance with SCO procedures
