About the role:

We are looking for Health Care Assistants to support our Live-in Registered Nurse with hoist transfers, personal care and general aspects of daily living for a client in their own home.

Our Client is a 79 year old female who suffers with a spinal injury, incomplete tetraplegia and Lewy Body dementia. She is severely disabled, has some sensation and some function but it is limited, incomplete and unreliable below neck level. Her hearing and vision are good, but subject to disturbance as a consequence of Lewy Body Syndrome.

Our client needs to be confident that the Healthcare Assistant has excellent manual handling techniques, very proactive, interactive and can think on their feet. The candidate should also demonstrate very good interpersonal and communication skills and should be able to manage occasional mood changes, periods of confusion and visual hallucinations and occasional challenging behaviours.

She would like her care team, to be meticulous, tidy and should have an interest in current affairs and history. She previously worked as a registered Nurse, and she loves spending time in the garden with her plants. She also loves listening to a large selection of music on the radio and watching TV programmes. A large number of friends and family visit on a regular basis. She is keen to meet candidates who are interested in working with her as soon as possible.

Ideally, the candidate should be living locally or within a driving distance from the client’s premises. Being a car driver would be advantageous for getting to shift. Apart from the competitive pay rates, the carer would; continuously improve their skillset as a result of working alongside the RGNs and gain exposure to dealing with high profile clients.

Following skills & experience required:

• 6 months previous care experience
• Experience of working with clients with complex care needs (advantageous)
• Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and listening
• Have a caring and compassionate attitude
• Can commit to regular hours
• Medication management
• Manual handling (to include hoisting)
• Personal Care
• Dementia
• ADL's
• Spinal Injury
