The successful candidate will lead the new voluntary benefit sales division, helping to grow sales on a broad scale to fully develop this new distribution channel. Therefore, we are looking for driven candidates with an in-depth operational knowledge of sales in a regulated environment as well as proven success in a similar leadership role. As this role will be to create and develop a new B2B sales operation, experience of working in new markets would be beneficial.

The Role

The Head of Voluntary Benefit Sales is expected to grow our sales on a broad base by leading the sales consultants in efforts to acquire and retain employer clients, who will offer employee paid voluntary benefits utilizing our benefits communication, education, and enrolment capabilities. Growth should come from a variety of targeted, favourable market segments and industries. This is a new and exciting distribution channel for the company, so the successful candidate will be at the forefront of this project.

You will be expected to provide effective leadership to the voluntary benefits sales division, executing a consistent and systematic new client acquisition approach from identification to close. As this is a new distribution channel, you will select, develop and retain motivated staff in order to kick-start sales in the early stages of organisational building.

You will also be expected to be an effective member of the voluntary benefits leadership team and support the Head of voluntary benefits in the performance of the distribution channel, including:

  • The development, implementation and refinement of strategy and operational plans
  • Monitoring operational and financial performance via metrics and personal observation
  • Risk Management – assessment and control of risks
  • Prioritisation and allocation of resources

Key skills, responsibilities and attitudes

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Demonstrated success in a similar sales role
  • Strong proven leadership and people management skills
  • Previous strategic planning and leading organisational change experience
  • Extensive industry and sales experience
  • Successful sales organisation market building experience
  • Demonstrated strong customer centric focus
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Operational knowledge of the FCA TC requirements and compliance for non-advised disintermediated distribution
  • Competent knowledge of insurance and group risk protection products
  • Ability to travel extensively
