Head of Procurement/Supply Chain

Location: London
Length: Interim (3 months)
Rate: £400-500 a day (commensurate with experience)
Start: ASAP

Our client, a London based transport company is looking to appoint a Head of Procurement/Supply Chain on an interim basis for 3 months. The role itself will be to lead the central procurement and supply chain function providing an effective end-to-end supply chain and procurement service. This is a exciting new a role within an ever-growing organisation who turn over approximately £255million a year.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Creating and implementing the supply chain and procurement strategy and identifying gaps against existing policy and procedures
  • Work with key stakeholders to develop and implement the strategy and build and identify consistent and best practice supply chain capabilities especially in terms of systems, processes, policies and practices
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of sourcing and procurement projects, from planning and bid preparation to budget/forecasting, negotiation, invoicing and reporting
  • Develop product category strategies aligned with business needs, build a supply chain capable of delivering the desired service levels, at competitive cost and ensure our suppliers are willing to invest in the strategy
  • Drive savings by developing and applying various strategies such as volume leverage, supplier concentration, supply chain segmentation and negotiate prices, schedules and other terms as required

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Proven and successful career in procurement/supply chain at a senior level working for a large scale organisation
  • Proven and visible leadership capability, with the ability to use a variety of leadership approaches in order to achieve results
  • Delivery-focused, able to quickly build collaborative relationships
  • Skilled at getting individuals and teams, both internally and externally, to collaborate and deliver a specific target or goal
  • Highly skilled communicator and expert negotiator, able to use a range of influencing/negotiation skills to deliver successful outcomes, and build relationships both internally and externally
  • Proven project management experience, preferably PRINCE2 qualified or equivalent
