The job sits in the Central Services area of the business and the job holder reports to the Director of Advisory Services. They will be responsible for the management of the Research & Technical Advice Team delivering a range of support services to the adviser population in line with company strategy.
Reporting to the Director of Advisory Services, the purpose of this role is to support the business with a specialist advice service specifically focussing on all aspects relating to technical advice services (including all specialist pensions), investment, asset allocation, fund and product selection and maintenance as well as the portfolio management aspects of our advice service.
A fundamental part of this role is to manage, run, support, oversee, promote and grow the AuM of the Discretionary Model Portfolio Service and its operational framework in line with our business and advice standards and to be responsible for the oversight and systems and controls relating to the services provided.
Management, oversight and accountability for the Discretionary Model Portfolio Service and all aspects therein.
Managing the marketing and distribution of the Discretionary Model Portfolio Service including adviser and paraplanner training.
Maintain investment standards and fund and portfolio research and management construction in line with company standards as agreed by the Investment Committee.
Own all written copy for all reporting on the Discretionary Model Portfolio Service and regular investment market views for both advisers and clients (including Strategic and Tactical Asset Allocation views).
Promote the services of the Portfolio Management & Research across the business, to clients (where appropriate) and also to the Press in conjunction with the Head of PR & Communications.
Under the Discretionary Model Portfolio Service (MPS) there is a direct impact on profitability for the group based on the assets under management for the discretionary service.
Diploma in Financial Planning - RQF Level 4 (or equivalent)
1. Certificate in Discretionary Investment Management (RQF Level 4 - or equivalent) – R01 + J10
2. Investment Management Certificate – IMC (or equivalent)
3. Level 4 Certificate in Investment Management (CISI - or equivalent
Experience of managing technical or fund management staff
Experience of discretionary portfolio management (on a fund-of-funds basis) within a team environment
A minimum of 10 years’ experience within financial services
Experience of senior level reporting
Excellent presentation and copy-writing skills
Experience of business development and presentations
Experience of client meeting scenarios
Experience of wealth strategy and portfolio management
Experience of leading functional teams and projects
