The projects being delivered within CIP are not only large but also complex and attract a high level of public scrutiny. As an organisation we need to ensure our delivery is effectively managed and controlled. The PMO Lead role is critical in developing an integrated and high performing Programme PMO service, supporting the project at every stage of the lifecycle.
Working as part of the Programme PMO team, the post holder will be responsible for developing and leading the programmes governance and assurance standards. You will be required to work collaboratively with the Project teams and Portfolio Office to ensure effective planning and co-ordination of governance.
You will develop and mature a consistent approach to assurance management and reporting, as well as support the implementation of systems and process to help mature delivery across the programme.

Day to Day:
To be the 'single source of the truth' for the programme, delivering accurate and timely reporting on all aspects of project performance, ensuring challenge is provided
Implement and communicate consistent governance standards across the programme, including information management, meeting management practices, terms of reference
Provide PMO expertise, support and guidance to the project team. Build strong collaborative relationships with projects, whilst retaining assurance, oversight and scrutiny on behalf of the organisation. Act as delegate for the PMO Director in their absence
Set the standard, mature and continuously improve core PMO process and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy of data. Build the capability of PMO function across the programme
Custodian of the integrated CIP Programme plan. Actively drive completion and provide status transparency through an effective Programme-wide governance structure
Ensure proactive resource management with a more integrated approach to understanding capacity and capability needs and interventions to match supply with demand
Work with project teams to ensure effective planning and co-ordination of governance meetings to ensure timely submissions of papers
Co-ordinate submission of quarterly DfT reporting requirements, work to improve the consistency and standards of reports
- Experience working in a £multi-million project or programme environment
- Experience of setting up a new PMO / Project Office capability or significantly enhancing an existing PMO
- Experience of forming and managing teams, including matrix management
- Previously implemented improved methodologies & governance
- Previously led change across business operations
- Proven people management experience including performance management and coaching
