VNA Education is working in partnership with a rapidly improving secondary school to appoint an exceptional Head of PE to lead a popular, high-profile department with strong student engagement and successful extra-curricular provision.


This is a key leadership opportunity for an ambitious PE specialist ready to drive curriculum quality, raise outcomes and develop a high-performing team, while championing physical education, sport and wellbeing across the school


The Role

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for PE across KS3 and KS4
  • Lead curriculum design, sequencing and assessment to ensure excellent progress for all students
  • Drive consistently high standards of teaching, learning and behaviour
  • Use data and evaluation to identify underachievement and secure improvement
  • Lead, coach and develop staff, embedding a reflective, high-expectations culture
  • Oversee and develop a strong extra-curricular and competitive sports programme
  • Promote PE’s contribution to attendance, wellbeing, character and aspiration


The ideal candidate

  • Qualified teacher (QTS) with strong PE subject expertise
  • Has proven or emerging subject leadership experience
  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of curriculum, assessment and pedagogy in PE
  • Is an effective people leader, able to motivate, challenge and support colleagues
  • Sets high expectations for students and staff alike
  • Is committed to inclusive practice, safeguarding and student development
