An opportunity has arisen for a Lead/Head Occupational Therapist to join the team at Cygnet Hospital Kewstoke.
Cygnet Hospital Kewstoke provides an emergency admissions service for men and a pathway for women from low secure to rehabilitation including a specialist service for personality disorder. The hospital provides 58 inpatient beds within a low secure setting, including a male PICU within the same secure perimeter. All bedrooms are single, with en-suite bathrooms, and each of the four wards has its own garden or terrace. There is a fully equipped gym and activities suite.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and positive Head Occupational Therapist (OT) who has extensive knowledge and experience in working within the field of mental health, to drive through our ethos of recovery-focused provision, with our patients being at the centre of their progress. The Head OT will also need to be someone who is an inspiration and an excellent role model to OTs, facilitating a culture of collaboration and innovative practice.
The post holder will be part of the senior management team, and be responsible for raising the OT profile, sustaining a strong OT identity within the hospital, and supporting the recruitment and retention of OT staff.
The Successful Candidate will have:
A Degree / Postgraduate Diploma (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy, registration with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) and a member of the RCOT (Royal College of Occupational Therapy)
Experience in the field of mental health and secure/forensic settings
Experience of leadership and management
An understanding of Occupational Therapy process/interventions and can take a “hands on” approach
The ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, as well as leading and managing others
Excellent communication / personal management skills
