Head of Marketing (Interim) - £27ph - £30ph plus holiday pay - London

Start - ASAP for two months initially

If you are a strong marketing professional who can lead, manage and implement marketing activities, this role could be for you.

MAIN DUTIES

Marketing & Advertising

  • Target markets through cost effective use of profile raising and targeted strategies (publications, public relations, social media and internal communications)
  • Identify areas of development that meet market needs, assesses efficiency of current activities, help identify market changes, growth areas and potential market loss segments
  • Build relationships with business, government offices, community organisations, alumni, schools and other education providers to increase market share and support market position
  • Brand identity programme: maintain visual identity in all materials
  • Digital campaigns and evaluations

Public Relations

  • Develop relationships with local/regional/national media and supply with news items, press releases and statements to ensure appropriate representation
  • Develop and identify events that can be developed as news items, co-ordinate the editorial via the marketing team
  • Devise PR campaigns to support student recruitment
  • Advise and co-ordinate public relation activities for the departments with equal support
  • Update management with press and media activity so they can deal with promotional activity, negative press and potential areas of promotion

Publications

  • Manage the prospectus, liaising with staff and relevant agencies to ensure accuracy
  • Copy writing general information for a range of publications
  • Ensure the publications budget is maximised for value for money
  • Coordinate with agency designers for production of promotional materials
  • Coordinate and write copy for promotional materials including advertisements, leaflets, radio, brochures and prospectus
  • Manage the website, direct the team and consult with stakeholders
  • Direct the team developing the event programme, ensuring effective promotion and support for recruitment
  • Lead promotional campaigns and implement them to maximise interest
  • Lead the team producing regular reports on promotional effectiveness for the Senior Leadership Team
  • With the Advice and Recruitment Manager, develop enquirer and applicant communication plans
  • Collate relevant information e.g. course details and student profiles for promotional purposes
  • Manage the intranet and other internal communication

School Liaison & Alumni

  • Build relationships with local and out of borough schools
  • Ensure there are effective programmes to support particular initiatives and issues are handled appropriately and sensitively
  • Represent at career fairs, exhibitions and other events
  • Manage the development and communication with alumni
  • Manage external communication strategies, ensuring the marketing team and staff implement these strategies to maximise enquiries, recruitment and image in the appropriate communities

Market Data

  • Manage market research projects to provide data for analysis and segmentation of the target markets
  • Develop the market research centre to strengthen research so development of provisions has strong market intelligence available to staff
  • Provide market needs analysis for various development programmes and initiatives

Other - team leadership; to include SAR and QIAP

  • Cooperate with own annual appraisal to ensure job related targets are met
  • After appropriate training, undertake annual appraisals for the marketing team, ensuring continuing staff development
  • Implement marketing self-assessment and quality improvement plans
  • Manage the team, ensuring targets are met and work is distributed to maximise efficiency
  • Manage the marketing budget, ensuring expenditure is efficiently managed
  • Identify gaps in the market for education provision and liaise with the Senior Leadership Team to advise on future course development
  • Direct external agencies on the marketing function to ensure value for money and achieving objectives
  • Ensuring the Quality Improvement Framework are adhered to by the team
