Head of Legal Practice - Conveyancing
JDI Legal are a specialist recruiter in the North East and currently instructed on a fantastic opportunity to recruit a Head of Legal Practice to oversee a 40 strong conveyancing department.
This is a rare and exciting prospect for a Senior Property Solicitor with a high level of legal leadership to join this fast paced and growing business reporting into the COO.
With an office an Newcastle there would be a need to be in the office some of the time but part of the role could be done remotely.
The role of Head of Legal Practice will be responsible for providing guidance on corporate governance, risk management and the development of plans and policies and provide timely and accurate advice to internal and external stakeholders ensuring the business is adhering to all of the regulatory requirements so that we are able to provide clients and partners with a high quality, reliable and trustworthy service.
You will lead on all aspects of the creation of frameworks and reporting that demonstrates compliance and good practice. In addition to this, you will play a critical and lead role in the development of the team to ensure knowledge, practice and service levels are of the highest standard. A key focus will be leading our team of Trainee Solicitors on their development programme from recruitment through stages of development, supporting their transition into Conveyancing Fee Earner positions. Reporting directly to the board, this role would suit someone senior looking for a change and a clear opportunity to have strategic input.
The successful candidate will :
Be a qualified Lawyer/Solicitor that holds a current and valid practice license issued by regulator in England and Wales.
A minimum of 7+ years in residential conveyancing having run your own busy and varied caseload. You must also have experience in mentoring / supporting more junior members of the team.
Experience of providing legal advice to senior management, including advising on governance or regulatory matters
Commercially astute and effective communicator who enjoys engagement in business development.
Collaborative approach - working alongside senior management to deliver continuous improvement.
Good level of dynamism, drive, and energy - team player.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills
This role will pay competitively and would suit someone in a senior management role or even director/partner level and the salary will be commensurate experience.
