HEAD OF GROWTH & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Our client are a prestigious borough based in East London who are currently looking to appoint an Interim Head of Growth and Economic Development. Responsible for around 20 staff, this role will focus on inward investment, employment opportunities and Town Centre Regeneration.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Developing LA strategies, advice and services to support the Growth Plan to create the conditions for business growth in Tower Hamlets. To actively attract and secure inward investment in the borough with a particular focus on increasing the numbers of mid-sized businesses with the potential to provide sustainable employment opportunities for residents. Develop a network of strategic and tactical contacts in businesses and sectoral trade associations to support this.
Developing LA strategies and advice to support the establishment of businesses in the borough, their growth and their ability to reach new markets.
Further develop and implement the Town Centres and High Streets Strategy, to improve the look, feel and trading conditions of the town centres and markets, making them successful places to do business and attractive places to spend time. Develop cross borough and location specific partnerships to support this.
We are looking for somone with high Knowledge of relevant legislation, legal frameworks and current good practice for:
* The Local Plan and interrelationships between Planning policy, Regeneration, and Economic Growth
* Delivering inclusive growth, including understanding how regional and sub- regional organisations and LEPs impact this.
* Effective inward investment strategies, including key factors influencing decisions on business location and the pivotal role of commercial property in that.
* The renewal of High Streets, town centres and retail and street market development
* Employment legislation
* Commissioning provision of support.
* Any secured grant funding from government, regional and/or European sources
As well as this we would be looking for someone with significant experience of providing advice and interpretation of issues in relation to job portfolio, experience of developing and implementing new and innovative strategies which are effective, and which reflect current best practic as well as signiiffcant expereince in a similar role.
