An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Full Time Head of Estates Services at East Anglia Reserve Forces and Cadets Association (RFCA) based in Chelmsford, Essex.
East Anglia RFCA is one of 13 RFCAs across the UK and widely recognised as the most valuable, knowledgeable and authoritative body in support of the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force Reserve Forces and Cadet Organisations in East Anglia. The Association is an arms-length public body, apolitical and independent from the Ministry of Defence although funded by it to deliver its three mandated Defence outputs of managing the Reserve and Cadet Estates, Community and Employer Engagement, and support to Cadets.
The Estates team manage an impressive portfolio of around 200 Reserve Forces and Cadet sites across East Anglia and in addition to providing the management and upkeep of the estate, handle the acquisition and disposal of land and buildings, and adapt homes for injured service personnel.
The role involves
Planning, supervising and delivering a cost effective maintenance, refurbishment and re-provision programme for both hard and soft facilities management.
Providing appropriate professional direction, advice and assistance on all property and Facilities Management matters.
Ensuring Safety, Health, Environment and Fire regulations are in order to ensure the estate is compliant.
Compiling and submitting Short Term Plans for Core Works, Minor New Works and Property Management to meet the requirements of the Estate Planning Tool.
The successful candidate will be professionally qualified as a Member of the Royal Chartered Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or hold other allied professional recognition in the provision of Estate and construction. They will also have experience in Project Management for new build and major refurbishment and knowledge or experience of Government estate work.
We are looking for a highly organised individual with excellent project management and leadership skills. The candidate must feel confident managing a small friendly team in a flexible working environment and be prepared to travel. Good communication, computer literacy and inter-personal skills are also required.
This post is for 42 hours per week including lunch breaks. This position attracts a current salary of £37,940 p.a. Additional benefits include a generous defined benefit pension scheme, annual leave of 25 days plus public holidays (rising to 30 days after 5 years of service), use of an allocated car and free on-site parking.
