Are you an experienced engineering leader looking for your next challenge? Here’s your chance to take the reins at a growing, technically advanced manufacturer and make a real impact.

We’re looking for a Head of Engineering & Development to lead the company’s technical and design operations. This is a senior role where you’ll oversee everything from concept and design through to tooling and production, managing a skilled, multidisciplinary team and delivering high-precision products to customers in aerospace, defence, automotive, and industrial sectors.

The right candidate will have a strong manufacturing or engineering background, ideally with experience in composites or advanced materials, along with expertise in Design for Manufacture (DFM), CAD (SolidWorks), and tooling design. Chartered Engineer status (or working toward it) is preferred.

In return, you’ll have the autonomy to shape engineering strategy, develop talented teams, and help drive the growth of a forward-thinking, innovative manufacturer.

If you’re ready to step into a role with real responsibility, impact, and opportunity to lead, we’d love to hear from you.

YOUR NEW ROLE

The Head of Engineering and Development will lead all engineering and product development activities from concept and design through to production handover. Working closely with the senior management team, the role combines strategic leadership with hands-on technical oversight.

You will guide a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, to the highest standards, and aligned with commercial objectives. This is a key appointment for an accomplished engineering professional seeking a role with influence, challenge, and long-term impact.

ABOUT YOU

  • Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Proven leadership experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment — ideally in composites or advanced materials.

  • Strong technical background in design for manufacture (DFM), tooling design, and product development.

  • Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks essential) and familiar with a range of manufacturing processes.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status preferred, or working towards professional registration.

  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets, resources, and multiple concurrent projects.

  • Personal Attributes:

  • Strategic and commercially minded, with strong technical credibility.

  • Collaborative and decisive leader who drives performance and accountability.

  • Resilient, adaptable, and proactive in managing change.

  • Passionate about innovation, precision, and developing high-performing teams
