Head of Engineering required by a leading Travel organization who have grown exponentially over the last 4 years and are now in a position where they needs to structure the current engineering function.
This specific role will suit someone who oozes genuine passion for Modern Engineering environments and practices, and at the same time is equally confident dealing with the business and managing a variety of non-technical stakeholder. You really will be bridging the Gap between a VERY enthusiastic team of engineers, and polar opposite Business stakeholders.
From a tech perspective, they're now fully Cloud hosted, AWS and are 80% down the journey in becoming a NoOps environment with effective CI/CD in place across most teams. The product is developed with React & Node. The engineering team currently stand at circa 50, split across 2 key sites. We are looking for someone who has had prior experience working in a tech-driven business - this is key. You'll have worked on developing a modern engineering team and thrive in getting the best out of them. You wont be cutting code here, but it's essential that you've come from a development background (irrelevant of what language) and still keep up to date with tech in your own time. These guys are REALLY proud of the environment they've created, so important you can give them the confidence that this critical function is in safe hands.
The role will develop into a CTO role. How long is hard to say, and it will likely depend on each individual and how quick they are able to embed themselves in the business and the function.
