I am recruiting for a Head of Education Policy, based in Edinburgh, on behalf of a national professional membership association. As the leading influence on public policy as it pertains to education, teaching and accessibility, you will help champion the education sector to enable much needed reform, broadening access and increasing its relevance through demonstrating the part the sector plays in skilling up the future workforce.
The role requires an individual who can pro-actively lead and develop evidenced policy on behalf of the sector, as well as advising its leaders’ responses to policy proposals coming from government or statutory agencies. Further aspects of the role include managing two policy officers and supporting colleagues in the public affairs team in the development of campaigns to influence politicians and other stakeholders.
The successful candidate will have the necessary gravitas and credentials to be able to successfully develop joined up policy solutions across a broad portfolio, representing the sector and its leaders at the highest level. Since this is a 12-month maternity cover, you will also be quickly able to build personal credibility with senior leaders in universities, government and stakeholder bodies. You will be a strong, motivational manager for a small, high-performing team, and fully flexible with regards to colleagues in different departments.
Applications for either full- or part-time will be considered.
