Head of Bids - Major International Law Firm
Based in a major international law firm, this is a real opportunity for a strong bids specialist to take on an autonomous and influential role. As Head of Bids, you will have scope to recruit, embed and develop a new global bid team located across EMEA & APAC.
Reporting into the Global Director of Business Development & Marketing, you will lead the firm's global bid function and be responsible for the firm's pitch and proposal activity across 25 offices. The Global Bid Team will form an integral part of the firm's wider global business development function and the centre of excellence for bidding and will lead on or support the firm's most significant tenders, including panel tenders and high-value transactional and project bids. On an ongoing basis, the Head of Bids role will involve strategic leadership and team management as well as the provision of expert "hands-on" support on the firm's most important bids, working directly with partners and practice, sector and office-business development managers at written proposal and pitch presentation phases to produce distinctive, compelling and client-focused bids.
To fulfil the requirements of the role, you will need to be very bright intellectually with considerable experience in a business development role in the professional services sector, preferably legal, incorporating substantial pitch leadership experience, including the successful end-to-end management of large-scale, multi-service line and multi-geography tenders. Strong leadership capability and experience of line managing a centralised pitch or business development team are essential the role of Head of Bids and influencing skills are also fundamental, as you will need manage and organise senior partners and other members of the wider business development team.
