Key Knowledge and Skills (Experience):
 Extensive and demonstrable experience of Cloud technology spanning at least two Cloud providers
 Demonstrable experience of creating architectural diagrams and technical designs
 Knowledge of security and networking technology as is applicable to Cloud environments
 Experience of working in a large scale organisation with operating models and associated continuous improvement

Key Tasks and Deliverable's:

 Provide technical governance across all delivery streams by actively aligning all
inflight work, projects and programmes to standardised architecture
 Focus on enabling business and IT leaders to make investment decisions that
balance and prioritise current operational demands, disruptions and
opportunities with the longer-term strategic vision of the organisation.
 Work with the wider technology team, including CTO to ensure product
development and roadmap is fit for purpose.
 Identify, scope and design any pieces of work or product development that would
be to the advantage of CDG and the wider HMRC community.
 Ensure non-technical requirements are always at the forefront of solutions being
designed with full documentation and continual review processes.
 Coordinate a wider team of staff throughout the entire project lifecycle to ensure
all aspects of the solution are delivered on time and within budget.
 Conduct and support the internal architecture review process and actively
contribute to the wider architecture strategy within the business. Manage risk.
 Deliver internal training and mentoring to colleagues to ensure that knowledge is
shared, this may be via face to face sessions as well as internal documentation.
 Innovate and lead by example. Challenge the status quo but do so in a positive,
inclusive and collaborative way.
 Embody a genuine personal passion for technology and architecture. Be able to
demonstrate a deep and robust understanding of public cloud hosting providers
and the general methodology and terminology used in that space.
 Ability to document technical solutions to a high standard and drive a culture of those around them to do the same, regardless of grade or reporting structure.
 Be an active member of the CDG leadership community with the potential to line manage other architects or product owners.
