Groups Market Development Manager (Maternity Cover)

Bell Educational Services Ltd. seek a Groups Market Development Manager to support expansion in groups across both adult and young learner businesses. The role is to cover maternity leave of the current Groups Market Development Manager and will be for a period of up to 12 months, working 37.5 hours per week.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Handle day-to-day enquiries and follow up;

  • Maintain regular contact with customers by telephone and e-mail so that enquiries are suitably followed up;

  • Build and maintain database contacts’ details;

  • Identify new promotional opportunities and help devise and implement promotional campaigns for specific markets and products;

  • Identify closed group opportunities and liaise with the Head of Groups Sales as appropriate;

  • Work closely with Business Development team to develop/exploit contact network in each market to increase numbers of group bookings;

  • Respond efficiently and effectively to incoming enquiries of all types, ensuring that the maximum possible number of enquiries convert to enrolments;

  • Help maintain group activity spread sheet and follow Groups Procedures and Guidelines so that all activity in the pipeline is recorded and easily accessible;

  • Liaise closely with other members of the Sales & Marketing and Operations team to achieve fast turnaround of enquiries;

  • Follow through the sales process providing all interested parties with relevant information thus making sure of an effective and smooth handover.

  • Provide excellent customer service in all communications with internal and external clients;

  • Provide cover for direct sales team in handling enquiries from customers and potential customer


  • To Actively promote Bell's full range of training services (both in the UK and globally) by maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of Bell products and services and by referring potential prospects to the Sales & Marketing Department;

  • To adhere to all statutory regulations and to Bell policies and procedures;

  • To Protect at all times, the confidentiality of information handled within the remit of the post;

  • To Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons you are responsible for and come into contact with.

  • To work irregular hours and travel worldwide as required;

  • To undertake any reasonable duties as required.


Education Level

  • A-level or equivalent and Degree or above is desirable but not essential


  • Sales and/or customer service experience ideally within a service industry

  • High degree of computer literacy including databases and CRM systems

  • Experience of working within the education sector is desirable

Personal Skills/Qualities

  • Strong planning, prioritisation and project management skills

  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Ability to work effectively and accurately under pressure

  • Flexible and adaptable

  • Very close attention to detail and a high level of accuracy

  • Instinctive understanding of what constitutes great service

  • Ability to manage workload effectively during peaks & troughs of activity, prioritizing effectively where appropriate

  • Ability to act with limited supervision, using own initiative to continually improve the customer experience

  • High degree of IT literacy & proficiency
