Measures of Success:

  • Timely and accurate delivery and reporting of the group consolidated accounts including actuals, forecasts and budgets
  • Well maintained systems with progressive approach to improvements
  • A key member of the group finance team
  • Ability to deal with ad hoc financial accounting queries
  • Communicating effectively with users of the consolidation systems and senior management
  • Good relationships with divisional finance teams and country accounting teams

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Taking ownership of the group’s multi-currency consolidation process for both management and statutory purposes
  • Liaison with reporting entities to ensure a timely and accurate close, including resolution of issues
  • Ensure integrity and appropriate understanding / analysis of business unit submissions and overall consolidated results
  • Timely and accurate posting of all elimination and necessary consolidation adjustments
  • Ensuring that the intercompany mismatches are within agreed limits
  • Preparation of consolidated group accounts and schedules
  • Liaison with reporting entities to provide guidance on group policy and technical requirements
  • Management of the consolidation systems including metadata, user access rights and the chart of accounts
  • Maintain systems documentation as part of a business continuity strategy
  • First level of technical support to the users of the group finance systems
  • Effective working with IT to escalate technical queries when required
  • Developing and implementing best practice processes and systems across the group, including support and training on the development of effective and efficient reports
  • Lead systems improvement initiatives including upgrades
  • Supporting the wider team’s delivery requirements including ad hoc project work as required

Person Specification - the successful candidate will be and have:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA or equivalent)
  • Previous experience with multi-currency consolidations and plc group accounts is essential
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Advanced hands-on knowledge of consolidation software, preferably Cognos Controller and TM1, and BI reporting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Drive and enthusiasm to ensure team succeeds in achieving fixed and demanding deadlines
  • Ability to work under pressure during key periods
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Good technical accounting knowledge and previous IFRS experience
  • Knowledge of statutory reporting requirements
