Ground Operations - Safety & Compliance Executive

Rapidly expanding Cargo airline have this new role as the focal point for Safety and Compliance within the Ground Operations department. You will use your ground op's and SMS experience, (including knowledge of IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations), to develop, administer and maintain an effective safety management system within the Ground Operations department.

Main Duties

  • Develop and manage a system of Compliance Assurance audits and inspections based on the Management System Manual using the Centrik system, to include, but not be limited to:

    • Pre-operational Station Assessments

    • Ground de-icing/anti-icing

    • Ground support services

    • Load control, mass, balance and aircraft loading

    • Aircraft ground handling operations

    • Carriage of Dangerous Goods

  • Facilitate hazard identification, risk analysis and management

  • Monitor the implementation of actions taken to mitigate risks, as listed in the Safety Action Plan

  • Provide periodic reports on safety performance

  • Ensure maintenance of safety management documentation

  • Provide advice on safety matters

  • Ensure initiation and follow-up of internal occurrence/accident investigations

  • Verify that corrective actions are planned and taken by the responsible managers and follow up

  • Carry out regular audits and inspections of all parts of the ground operation and sub contracted activities.

  • Along with Director Ground Operations and Director Safety and Compliance, periodically review the Compliance Monitoring System to ensure that it is suitable to support the high operational standards required of the department

  • Investigation and assessment of suppliers/service providers for charter and scheduled operations

  • Undertake station visits and perform assessments and audits of service providers to ensure sustainable operations

  • Management-level liaison with service providers and reportable departments including meetings and conference calls

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Operational management experience and a technical background sufficient to understand the systems that support the organisation

  • Background of higher education

  • Experience of worldwide ground operations and remote location operations

  • Project Management skills

  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision

  • Must be prepared to travel to foreign locations, at short notice, for extended periods of time, as is reasonably required by the company

  • Must hold a full UK Driving License
