Job Title: Personal Assistant

Our client has a vacancy for a Personal Assistant to provide his health care, personal support and help him make the most of his university experience!

Hours: Live-in

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Southampton Solent University

Pay & Benefits

£120.00 per day

Free accommodation when on shift

5.6 weeks’ holiday pro rata

About our Client

Our client is a 23-year-old who has a physical disability, that means he is unable to walk or talk, he is about to the start his first year studying Sport/Business at Southampton Solent University,

About the Job

This is a great opportunity to spend a year doing something very different and meaningful after graduating from university, before embarking on a further career.

You will provide our client's personal / health care and social support. This is also a flat mate" type of role which goes far beyond simply care work, and includes all the fun things you’d expect a student of 20 to be doing. Like going away for the weekend, going to the cinema, watching a bit of sport and much more!

Weekly live-in rota: 7 days on and 7 days off or similar arrangement.

Previous PA's have often used the flexible working arrangements that come with the week on/week off set up to travel abroad or visit friends throughout the year. The combination of this, with the knowledge that they are having a positive, daily impact on someone's life, and the relaxed, inclusive working environment makes this a unique and exciting opportunity.

Care experience is not required as full training in our client's particular requirements will be provided.

His time at university will be split between living in university accommodation and his parents’ home for occasional weekends. There will be a PA room in the same halls as our client.

This position will require you to work with our client at his home in Chesham and at Southampton Solent University.

Skills required for this job are:

You must hold a full clean UK driving licence as you will be driving our client’s adapted car and have English as your first language.

About You

You are unlikely to have experience in every aspect of our client's care therefore full training in his particular needs is provided.

·You will need to be physically fit, calm, patient and caring

·Interested in computers, sport and current affairs

·Good organisational skills and being able to work on your own initiative

·Have a good sense of humour

·A mature and responsible attitude

·Excellent hearing and communication skills

·Have English as your first language.

·Be clean and tidy in both your appearance and ways.

·Non Smoker

·You must hold a full clean UK driving licence
