Graduate Research Executive (Quantitative)

This is an opportunity to join the research team at the UK’s largest integrated communications agency with over 450 staff. We are looking for a bright, enthusiastic and curious recent graduate to join the growing research team at McCann Birmingham.

We are looking for someone with a genuine passion and enthusiasm for understanding people, culture and how they relate to brands and communications.

Reporting to the Research Director, the quantitative Research Executive will be a critical, logical and analytical thinker. They will enjoy figuring out puzzles, spotting patterns and finding stories in data. A strong communicator, they will be able to describe the patterns they find and bring them to life through storytelling.

This is not a maths-heavy role, but you must be numerate and comfortable working with data from a variety of sources.

Above all, you should have a passion for learning and be keen to understand how people, brands and communications work.

Role and responsibilities

The key parts of the role include:

  • Being a point of contact on day-to-day work on research projects for both clients and suppliers

  • Supporting the Research Director and other team members on all day-to-day research tasks including:

  • Conducting secondary research and analysing data from a range of secondary sources (Mintel, Forrester, TGI, Global Web Index)
  • Monitoring and managing fieldwork
  • Learning how to design questionnaires
  • Learning how to specify data and check that what’s received is correct
  • Conducting initial analysis and crafting a story
  • Creating presentations for both client and internal audiences

Collaborative working to ensure smooth project delivery including:

  • Works closely with the Research Assistant and / or Project Manager to ensure effective running of projects

  • Where necessary, learning the basics of qualitative research and integrating quantitative findings with the qualitative team

  • Where necessary, works closely with other agency departments to deliver the research elements within integrated communications projects

  • A keen interest in brands, advertising, people and culture

  • Organised and with excellent attention to detail

  • Takes responsibility, with support from line manager, for their own development, performance and training

  • A critical and analytical thinker who can turn logic into magic

Required skills and experience

  • A recent Honours graduate in any discipline

  • A PowerPoint ninja with excellent Excel skills, experience with statistical software such as SPSS, SAP or R is an advantage

  • Highly numerate and comfortable working with data
