Reed Education are currently working with a variety of clients across the West Midlands who are looking to identify high calibre graduates within English, Maths and Science for 1 year Cover Supervisor contracts for the coming academic year 2018/19. We are working on positions at non-denominational and faith schools, large and small academics and in locations such as Birmingham, Worcestershire, Solihull, Coventry and Warwickshire.
The positions are offered to Graduate level candidates who are looking at gaining school based experience to support teacher training applications or those that are maybe considering a post in Education but who want to gain experience in the sector before committing to Teacher Training. Due to the current shortage they are particularly interested in graduates who have done degree’s in English, Maths or Science or associated degree’s.
The position on offer is that of a Cover Supervisor, which will see the successful candidate taking on a broad range of duties. Initially whilst building their experience candidates may find themselves predominantly supporting Class Teachers, doing 1-1 support or taking small groups of pupils who require intervention due to falling behind their targeted attainment levels or the gifted and talented who have progressed beyond the rest of their class. When confident (Be that 1 day in, 1 month in or further on into their role) the successful applicants will also cover for class teachers who are away for courses, absent through sickness or for any other reason. This will see the successful applicants provided with planning and tasked with delivering those plans/lessons to pupils much like a teacher would. Depending on the ability level and competence of the individual there may be the opportunity to take on even more responsibility.
If you are a recent graduate or are due to graduate from University this year and you are looking to work within a Secondary School prior to possibly embarking on Teacher Training this is the position you have been looking for!
