Want to know what a sales specialist does?

The role of a specialist is to be an overlay to our Account Managers so being visible on the sales floor is integral to this. You will be required to build your own internal brand by acting as an evangelist of all things Collaboration and help account managers identify opportunities within their accounts. Sitting with teams and organising training and call outs will assist in raising your profile across the sales floor.

During your time on the Collaboration team, your role will start as an Executive, speaking to new clients, or clients who don’t currently buy Collaboration products from Softcat. In this phase, you will be building credibility with these clients, speaking to them about why Softcat and our Collaboration team is a fantastic partner to work with to solve their needs. From there you will have responsibility to develop these initial conversations into tangible projects and programmes of work. You will work consultatively with them to understand and mitigate risks and challenges identified by their businesses through a combination of technology and consultancy, forming long lasting relationships.

There is a defined progression path for Collaboration Solutions Specialists to support your development throughout that process, focussing on the following responsibilities:

  • Cold calling
  • To train new starters and general sales teams to allow them to qualify opportunities
  • Arrange and lead meetings with customers
  • Take ownership for commercial and technical engagement
  • Demonstrate an applied understanding of Softcat’s services, cloud, and vendor portfolio
  • Build an internal network with technical/sales teams and an external network with partners
  • Maintain accurate pipeline and apply business analysis using tools available
  • Embrace a commission centric role, judged by performance against target
  • Develop C-Level engagement confidence and capability
  • Take advantage of mentoring and management progression opportunities if of interest
