Your new company
As a new independent, non-departmental, public body, UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) represents the largest reform of the research and innovation funding landscape in the last 50 years. It brings together the functions of 9 research councils and seeks to maximise value from government's investment of over £6bn per annum growing to £8bn by 2020, advising the Secretary of State, for business, energy and industrial strategy. Right now, we are creating a new governance function that will form part of our central services team, responsible for ensuring that the organisation operates best practice throughout its governance, accountability, risk management and information management. As we look to build our new team in the coming weeks, we are recruiting for several Governance Managers that will develop and implement robust governance arrangements for UKRI.
Your new role
You will support the maintenance and implementation of governance policies while ensuring the mechanisms, frameworks and guidelines meet each requirement to support the wider-vision and strategic objectives. You will take ownership for developing and implementing robust governance schemes, embedding governance process throughout, including new systems and operational workflows, supporting senior colleagues to make better decisions that enable effective change.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a proactive member of the team, demonstrating the ability to deliver effective results under time constraints, and to meet changing priorities flexibly and to a high standard. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, maintaining strong working relationships with the ability to advise and instil confidence within stakeholders at the most senior levels. You will have insightful business awareness, able to assess and manage risk, capitalise on emerging opportunities and make sound evidence-based judgements.
