Birmingham City Council are currently recruiting for a Generalist Procurement Manager to start ASAP for up to 3 months, with the potential of being extended. Your new role
As an experienced Procurement Manager, you will be helping lead the Management of a portfolio of contracts with the aim of maximising financial and operational performance in order to deliver best value for money and social value for the Council and the City. This will be in a variety of area's such as Housing, Social Care and the upcoming Commonwealth Games. This will be a high volume position with the scope of working in many different upcoming area's of development in the Council. You will be working fairly autonomously, however you will have the support of a growing team around you.
What you'll need to succeed
As an experienced Procurement Manager, it is essential that you are from a Public Sector background and have knowledge of applicable EU and UK procurement legislation (OJEU) and its frameworks. It is also essential that you are CIPS qualified for this role. You will have an innovative approach to problem solving and have a strong understanding of contract management within a public sector setting and be able to manage their own workload.
