General Practitioner in Homeless Health Services

We are seeking to appoint an eight session salaried GP post available in the Glasgow Homeless Practice within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. This posts is for six months in the first instance, as services for homeless people are being reviewed as part of organisational change.

For General Practitioners who contract full time, we will offer 1 session per week in a General Practice within NHS GG&C, together with 1 session of CPD per week. This will be applied pro-rata.

You will deliver Primary Care Medical Services for practices who are registered with the homeless practice or where there are referrals made to the service by other services for vulnerable groups based at Hunter Street. The services on this site include a number of other services in support of individuals with complex needs and vulnerabilities.

The purpose of the homeless practice is to provide holistic care and support to patients who are unable to access mainstream practices as a result of multidimensional socioeconomic deprivation, including housing insecurity. The service is evolving and these posts are designed to support the service in providing capacity to see patients registered and referred to the practice as well as to start the process of out=reach to identify homeless people with significant health challenges and vulnerabilities who are not yet in contact with health services, and to in-reach into mainstream general practice in order to support practices to better meet the needs of vulnerable patients who are returned to their lists as the result of action by the homeless practice.

In order to apply to must have a licence to practice medicine in the UK you need to hold both GMC registration and be registered on the NHSGGC GP Performer list.
