General Practitioner GP Ringwood

Partnering Health Group are an established and expanding healthcare organisation responsible for providing a variety of urgent and primary health care services across Hampshire.

In this role the General Practitioner (GP) will be responsible for the provision of safe and effective primary care led service for patients presenting with urgent care presentations, acute injury, illness, and exacerbations of long term conditions in line with NHS England Urgent Treatment Centre service specification. The post holder will take a pro-active approach to continually improving the clinical effectiveness of the service and work collaboratively and supportively with all colleagues. You ideally will have worked in an urgent care environment previously.

  • GP contracted hours appts+ Ringwood Monday evening 18:30-21:30

This role could also be an ideal opportunity as part of a portfolio role working with PHL in the Primary Care extended access service, Integrated Urgent Care Telephone Triage Service in Whiteley and our Custody Healthcare Service across sites in Hampshire. There are multiple clinical services to ensure variety and flexibility.

We provide an attractive rate of pay dependent upon service and also offer enhanced rates for unsocial hours. A portfolio full time salary could range from £90K to 120K

Clinical Duties

The GP will work with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure appropriate care is delivered in the right place, at the right time. The post holder will be expected to:

· Maintain the highest clinical standards for all patients accessing the service.

· Elucidate the primary reason for the patient’s attendance at the Urgent Treatment Centre.

· Assess, investigate, diagnose and treat patients presenting with clinical needs which can be met by primary care.

· Refer to secondary care where appropriate.

· Provide emergency care while waiting for emergency transfer of patient when appropriate

· Provide advice and support to colleagues and the multi disciplinary team.

· Manage the flow of patients by balancing the clinical need of the patient with the capacity of the provider to deliver the necessary response.

· Offer on-site assessment patients who require immediate further investigation and diagnostics.

Communication and Working Relationships

· GP Team including Clinical Team of Nurses and Paramedics, Operational Manager and non clinical team

· GPs within Primary Care

· Secondary Care e.g. radiology and pathology

· Wider healthcare services

· Patient Participation Groups

The post holder will be expected to contribute to and support the development of the service. It is expected that the post holder will:

· Work to improve non-elective care pathways within the healthcare community.

· Communicate with the Governance Lead and support the delivery of a high quality service and raise any governance issues that may arise.

· Be responsible for the teaching and development of doctors, nurses and professionals from other disciplines such as Emergency Care Practitioners, GP registrars in Primary Care Skills. This may involve practitioners sitting in and seeing patients where appropriate.

· Work with the Service Manager to ensure training, significant events, complaints, audits, surveys and other professional service development activities are achieved to ensure the smooth running of the service.

· Maintain continued education through attendance at courses and/or study days as necessary to ensure professional development requirements for on-going professional registration and licensing are met.

· Participate in, encourage and support professional development within the service.

· Ensure that high clinical standards are maintained throughout the service.

· Participate in annual appraisal and complete an annual personal development plan.

· Comply with standard operational procedures and departmental and organisational policy.

· Undertake necessary mandatory training.

Strategic Development, Planning and Organising

· Actively participate in both departmental and organisational matters concerning clinical governance, care pathways, team meetings and audit.

· Attend meetings as appropriate to meet the needs of the service and its development

Skills & Experience:

Essential

· An experienced doctor with GP accreditation

· Current registration with GMC and NHS performers list (with no conditions preventing working or restrictions on practice)

· Experience if working in urgent care environment such as A&E, Walk In Centres

· Record of on-going CPD and learning

· MRCGP examination or equivalent experience

· Sound knowledge of clinical governance

· Will have an understanding of the political agenda and drivers influencing primary care provision.

· Good leadership skills with the ability to influence and negotiate.

· Good organisational and IT skills desirable

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – written, verbal (Particularly listening skills)

· Clear understanding of professional responsibility and accountability.

· Good organisational skills and ability to manage and prioritise own workload

· Good clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis and management of acute Primary care presentations
