Role Purpose: Contributes to achievement of NUC, Line of Business and  Corporate Goals relating to renewal retention, rate, exposure, service and producer / client relations. Obtains and analyses account-specific information (including but not limited to location and loss information, financials, loss control reports) and ensures accuracy of risk rationale for referral when outside authority when necessary. Develops information and recommendations based on the account analysis. Maintains data integrity. Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for an allocation of accounts and maintaining the renewal book by preparing, negotiating and delivering renewal terms within NUC and Corporate guidelines, strategy & service level agreement and issuance of documentation within contract certainty guidelines. Liaising with Operations and Offshore to ensure admin matters are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for key renewal review initiative and key account retention strategy.
  • Responsible for mid term actions for allocation of accounts within NUC service level agreements liaising with Operations and Offshore to ensure admin matters are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for managing  risk engineering  review cycle on allocation of accounts. Send, follow up and resolve outstanding new risk improvements.
  • Prepare risk referral and seek approval from appropriate authority holder as necessary if outside your underwriting authority or where assistance is required.
  • Prepare rationale, including final underwriting authority/approval for all allocation of accounts in accordance with guidelines
  • Knowledge of all appropriate product lines, appetite and wordings
  • Proactive member within Underwriting team  - relationships with brokers and branches.
  • Work closely with BDMs, Product Line  and Claims in assessing risks and managing service delivery of services in an efficient manner.
      Experience & Skills Required:
  • Experience of and knowledge gained by  working in a Commercial Insurance underwriting position
  • Experience in Property & Casualty with an interest in learning a new line of business
  • Can demonstrate application of technical underwriting knowledge
  • Has experience of working independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of all applicable rating tools and pricing methodologies
  • Knowledge of policy forms
  • Ability to organise work and perform within time constraints
  • Ability to recognise and evaluate exposure to loss
  • Commensurate Underwriting Authority to position .
  • Proficient to an intermediate level with Word and Excel
  • Strong written and verbal  and telephone communication skills
  • Must demonstrate competence in continuous professional development.
