Reporting into the Head of Finance, the General Ledger Accountant will ensure balance sheet accounts are reconciled, queries and issues are managed and reconciliations are financially compliant. The successful candidate will be responsible for a team of 4 Assistant GL Accountants.

Client Details

A global, blue chip managed services organisation based across multiple worldwide sites. The Liverpool shared service centre offers part qualified Accountants the scope to progress and grow within the business.


The General Ledger Accountant will be responsible the day to day management of the team of four, holding the following responsibilities:

  • Completion of monthly trial balance transactions and balance sheet reconciliations including all relevant reports to be distributed to Finance Managers
  • Complex bank account reconciliations
  • Timely completion of monthly VAT submissions, liaising closely with HMRC
  • Weekly and monthly payroll reconciliations
  • Intercompany account reconciliations
  • Assist with year and period end accounts


The General Ledger Accountant will ideally have the following background:

  • Proven experience in a busy month end finance position
  • ACCA/CIMA part qualified and actively studying
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels, managing complex queries
  • Experience of managing a team within finance
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Up to date working knowledge of VAT and payroll legislation
  • Strong IT skills including Excel
