JOB - to work in a very busy Insurance Brokerage who have their own Compliance Division

Job Purpose

To support the Compliance Helpline and Technical Services Team in the provision of advice to member firms as well as contributing to the production of compliance technical development and maintenance of appropriate procedures and guidance for members

Job Accountabilities

Specific key accountabilities required to fulfil the role:

Provision of clear, unambiguous technical advice in response to member queries

Preparation of detailed unambiguous, verbal and written feedback, coherent reports and action plans for member firms to enable them to maintain and enhance compliant standards

Assist member firms undertake FCA Reporting requirements e.g. Authorisation, RMAR review, Connect etc

Support the Technical Services Team with keeping up to date with regulatory developments

Assist with the development and monitoring of policy and procedures within the compliance team to ensure an efficient professional service is delivered to members.

Assist with the preparation, analysis, development and utilisation of operational reports in relation to the provision of compliance support services

Undertake ad hoc consultancy visits and audits as required

Undertake ad hoc projects with member firms

Assist with the development and update of compliance guidance material

Pro-actively identify issues / guidance needed for members and colleagues through website and other relevant publication reviews

Assess all manner of member firm marketing and communications

Respond to compliance queries for members and colleagues in a professional and competent manner

Be aware of the impact of regulatory risk on the business and report any risks to line manager.

To undertake internal projects as and when required, to support the needs of the business or to achieve departmental objectives

Develop and maintain effective and proactive open working relationships with member firms and specifically allocated relationship managed firms

Maintain a working knowledge of the business model and propositions

To build a sound reputation with member firms that will encourage them to recognise the value of the relationship and purchase additional services where appropriate

Provide relevant information as requested by managers and colleagues to ensure effective delivery of consultancy services

Technical Competencies

Specific qualifications, experience and skills required to be technically competent in the role.

Able to build and successfully manage key relationships

Ability to write concisely in plain English

Ability to research rules and regulatory requirements and present findings

Ability to apply a pragmatic approach to work

Knowledge of the General Insurance Market essential

Knowledge of the Consumer Credit Market desirable

Knowledge of the Mortgage Market desirable

Knowledge of Data Protection desirable

Willing to work towards core industry and other relevant qualifications e.g. Cert Cii, Dip CII, ACII

Knowledge of the FCA rules and preferably knowledge of the requirements of other Regulators

Good IT skills

Able to organise workload in order to meet commitments

Attention to detail

Experience of a customer services environment


Ideally compliance gained within General insurance or banking - ideally Financial Crime or Consumer Credit knowledge
