Hourly Rate: £16 - £19

REED Legal have an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Qualified General Civil Litigation Solicitor to assist with a range of work including Disrepair, Highways litigation, Land disputes, Contracts litigation and Judicial Reviews.
This role will be based in Sheffield meaning that you will be willing to work at any location within the City and by agreement outside the City, to meet the requirements of the role. Both full and part time applicants will be considered for this position.

The ideal candidate will have a recognised level qualification, experience of how to run a judicial review, extensive litigation knowledge, analytical abilities, project management experience, legal systems and process knowledge and evidence of continuing professional and managerial development.
To contribute to the delivery of legal / statutory services that support the Council’s corporate planning, performance and strategy
Support continuous improvement in the legal / statutory functions of the City Council and support the Council as a whole in its drive to achieve excellence
To contribute to the development and implementation of strategies and plans to improve legal management standards
To contribute to the development and implementation of policies and practices to ensure compliance with statutory and council legal regulations and best practice legal policies and processes
To promote and support the delivery of the Council’s vision, aims and objectives
Effective and efficient management of legal resources
Manage a project team (where appropriate)
Providing legal representation, advocacy, advice and support on all aspects of civil litigation to include but not limited to public sector housing law, contract, negligence, nuisance, commercial disputes including and debt recovery (private individuals and commercial undertakings) and all other civil torts.
Providing legal advice and support to enable the local authority to fulfil its Statutory and strategic functions.
Conduct of litigation before all courts and tribunals in relation to the work areas described in paragraph one.
Advocacy before first tier courts and tribunals and equivalent forum and before second tier court and tribunals as appropriate.
Legal drafting to include statements, reports, pleadings , instructions to counsel, court orders and settlement agreements as required and as a necessary part of the conduct of legal proceedings before all relevant courts and tribunals.
Provide legal advice, representation and support in defending judicial review and all other civil proceedings as required.
Advising and assisting in the preparation of reports to cabinet, committees, boards and other bodies of the Council and where appropriate external agencies.
Representation at and advice to committees, boards, meetings, members and officers and outside bodies as required.
Support and/or mentor colleagues and team members to achieve best practice as required.
