The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) is the main UK government agency for funding research and training in Engineering and the Physical Sciences, investing approximately £850 million a year.
About the role
The purpose of the role is to provide dedicated, comprehensive and flexible administrative support to the GCRF and the Newton Fund team in the RCUK executive directorate. This will include working on events by providing logistical support and a range of administrative tasks within the team including support for the GCRF and Newton Fund governance groups and support for GCRF and Newton Fund research calls.
The main duties will involve:
supporting the GCRF & Newton Fund research calls
examine research proposals upon receipt
updating application activities on Siebel (the Research Councils’ grants management system)
adding and updating peer review contacts on Siebel
logistical support for panel meetings and attendance if required
supporting the peer review process
manage key communication and information sharing platforms, such as DocNet, SharePoint and distribution lists ensuring the appropriate filing of documents
provide logistical support and note taking when required, to the GCRF and Newton Fund governance and implementation groups
book travel for GCRF and Newton Fund programme staff and provide diary management support when required
provide logistical support for events
ensure the RCUK GCRF/Newton Fund website is up to date
email inbox management.
You must be educated to at least GSCE level, with a minimum of grade C in Maths and English or equivalent qualification or relevant experience.
You must be able to demonstrate strong planning, organisational, analytical and time management skills.
You will also have experience of working within an administrative support role with the ability to demonstrate good interpersonal skills, while working effectively within a team and project environment.
