We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to join our dynamic team providing acute and inpatient general internal medicine, to the residents in Newham. This full time locum FY1 post will be available from 5th August – 2 December 2020 to fill a rota gap.

The successful applicant will be affiliated with the Gastroenterology department offering inpatient medical care on a ward based system. The team contributes to the acute medical on call for the hospital which serves the London Borough of Newham with a catchment population of 348,000. Newham has one of the youngest, most ethnically diverse and migrant populations in the UK.

The doctor will be based on the wards delivering daily care of medical inpatients under the team. They will also be looking after patients admitted with specific gastroenterology or liver conditions. The doctor will be supported by a team consisting Speciality consultant, Specialist Registrar, Senior House Officers and other Foundation trainees. They will be expected to contribute to the hospital on call rota where they will be responsible for the clerking, assessment and management of patients referred to Acute Medicine, as well as providing continuing care for patients on the wards. If desired, there is an opportunity to attend Speciality clinics.

There are a variety of educational meetings within the department and within the hospital which the successful candidate would be expected to attend.
