Garment Technologist

The Apparel & Soft Accessories Technologist will be responsible for establishing testing and quality standards as well as technical management processes across mens and womenwear. They will ensure that suppliers and final made products achieve these requirements whilst maintaining critical path deadlines.

Description

  • Action and manage all stages of fitting, sealing and grading
  • Ensure critical path dates are met on time while achieving required quality and fit standards
  • Proactively work with the suppliers and internal counter parts to minimize the number of fit samples while achieving the required fit
  • Collaborate with design at the start of the design process to advise on quality and testing requirements before development commence
  • Work with the Sourcing & Production team to priorities the fit session workload to meet critical path deadlines
  • Maintain data up-to-date in various files and systems (e.g Product file, Product tracker etc…)
  • Conduct product and raw material testing and advise solutions on failures
  • Sign off on labelling based on test reports, product end use, wear trials feedback, and raw materials specifications
  • Maintain adequate wearer trial and field test log and implement necessary technical adjustments that derive from consumer feedback

Profile

  • Demonstrate understanding of the outdoor market's technical needs from both product construction and raw materials aspects - preferable
  • Knowledgeable and experience in managing testing requirements and durability standards, outdoor performance products preferable
  • Knowledgeable of EU and US testing and labeling regulations
  • Able to couple high technical standards with commercial and aesthetics needs
  • Familiar with quality control processes and able to support factories in improving them
  • Demonstrate high level of knowledge of apparel fitting and product construction
  • Able to set up and effectively implement process, manuals, guidelines and tools
  • Ability to efficiently multi-task in a busy, whilst friendly atmosphere
  • Take efficient ownership of the relevant targets on the critical path
  • Able to analyse and simplify complex situations and data and make sound judgements
  • Able to work both in autonomy and collaboratively
  • Able to build positive relationships with internal and external teams
  • Computer literate, with a good working knowledge of Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written English along with strong communication skills
  • Ability to travel on regular basis both in the UK and internationally, including overnights
