Position Title: Assembler / Machinist - Assembly Department

Reports to: Assembly Supervisor

Job Description

As an Assembler / Machinist in the Assembly Department the role will be to carry out all aspects of Production Assembly in the factory. You will guarantee that the assembly remains a smooth and efficient process and that the finished product is complete to the standards the company expects and in the time frame allocated to the job. You will also be expected to monitor the progress of the assembly and reporting to your Supervisor if at any time you feel delivery dates are at threat. You will then assist the Supervisor in finding the relevant solution. You should be able to optimise day-to-day activities while minimising costs. The goal of the assembler is to ensure that Assembly is carried out in a timely manner and to the best quality to maximise profitability and ensure repeat orders where possible.

Key tasks and Responsibilities

  • Understand project to be completed
  • Obtain relevant drawings / information to complete the task
  • Locate all parts required for the project task
  • Use of Manual Hand Tools and Small Mechanical Tools such as Sanders, Trimmers, Routers, Biscuit Jointer etc
  • Use of large Machinery such as Band Saw, Edge Bander, Dimension Saw, Speed Sander etc
  • Assembly of furniture
  • Identify and rectify any faults and inform supervisor as priority
  • Work in an efficient and timely manner
  • Responsible for Health & Safety in and around the factory
  • Responsible for the upkeep and wearing of own PPE
  • Assist in keeping your work space clean & tidy
  • Any other duties required in relation to the production of products

  • Experience in using various types of manufacturing machinery and tools - Essential
  • Organisational abilities - Essential
  • Communication and Interpersonal skills - Essential
  • Self-Motivated with a results driven approach - Essential
  • Problem Solving Skills - Essential
  • Flexible approach to working hours to ensure deadline are met - Essential
  • Joinery / Furniture Qualification and/or relevant experience - Essential
  • Driving Licence - Desirable (some travel to site may be required)

Position Details:

  • Mon - Thur - 07:45 - 16.45
  • Fri - 07.45 - 11.45
  • 38hrs per week
  • 28 days holiday per year including Bank Holidays
  • Some flexibility towards the above hours will be required due to the demands of project work
  • At times, Overtime may be compulsory to ensure customer needs are met
  • May require some travel
