Funding Accountant - Part time
My client, based in Blyth, are seeking a Funding Accountant to join their finance team on a part time basis. As funding accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring that the business operates within a robust financial control environment where accurate and relevant management information is provided to both internal and external stakeholders. More specifically, you will administrer tight financial control and demonstrate a deep understanding around the various funding streams of the business, most notably, ERDF, BEIS and European grants.
Key responsibilities include:
Administer ERDF funded projects where appropriate, adhering rigidly to DCLG guidelines in order to minimise risk of clawback
Administer European funded claims, ensuring the appropriate documentation is kept on file and the accuracy of submissions in order to minimise the risk of clawback
Administer BEIS funded claims, producing financial milestone outputs along side working closely with the finance processing team to settle invoices and thereby enabling reimbursement of funds
Preparation of monthly revenue journals in relation to above streams as and when appropriate
Awareness of overall funding requirements and as such show a willingness to work closely with various colleagues throughout the business to ensure all outputs, including non-financial are delivered
Ad Hoc Projects as required given the rapid growth of the business
In order to be considered for this opportunity, your CV must demonstrate the following skills and experience:
Qualified Accountant (QBE will be considered)
Strong Communication Skills - both written and verbal
Ability to effectively prioritise workload and work to funding deadlines
Confidence to work with individuals from across the organisation at all seniority levels
Team player and self-starter with ability to work with minimum supervision and work proactively using their own initiative
Technically able with up to date knowledge of UK Reporting requirements and strong analytical skills
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook software
Knowledge of SAGE accounting software advantageous
Public company background advantageous
ERDF, BEIS, FP7 and Horizon 2020 knowledge highly desirable
