We are extremely excited to announce that APM have an opportunity for an experienced trainer to join our existing team to deliver Functional skills Maths & English, Employability and IT skills on APM’s Study Programme (SP) contract to a diverse range of clients aged 16-19.
The main aim of the SP contract is to engage and support young people with the opportunity to gain qualifications and experience that employers are seeking, therefore maximising the potential of young people to progress into long term and sustainable employment.
About the Role:
The focus of this role is to provide a full Learning and Development service to the clients as determined by contractual requirements. You will assist in planning, delivering and evaluation of training projects and training on a one-to-one and group basis. You must be confident in classroom delivery and classroom management and also and have a good understanding of the needs of your client base ensuring appropriate training is delivered whilst keeping clients engaged for the duration of the programme.
Experience of teaching Functional and Employability skills is essential for this role.
Please Note: The role involves maintaining and keeping up to date with associated administration/client files in line with contractual and Ofsted requirements.
The successful candidate will be involved in taking part in all stages of the learner journey from Initial Assessment, undertaking portfolio building, tutoring groups of learners, as well as preparation for and the administration of exams.
You will provide a high quality learning and teaching experience to our clients whilst addressing barriers to teaching and sign posting as required. You will be an excellent communicator and will be able to support and motivate clients from a wide range of backgrounds and behavioral needs. Demonstrating teaching practices and creativity you will use a wide range of approaches and learning resources to ensure that students engage fully in their learning experience, motivating good attendance, retention, achievement and progression with the aim to stretch and challenge learners to unleash hidden skills and equip them to secure sustained employment.
This is a busy, varied and challenging role which will require you to use all of your proven skills and behaviours to provide a robust and dedicated support to clients through group and 1-2-1 work using proven teaching techniques inspiring young people to engage successfully through various teaching methods and to enhance potential.
You will also be able to demonstrate the following skills in addition to the relevant job description/Person Spec requirements:
Knowledge of teaching techniques and learning styles
Functional and Employability teaching experience (formal and informal)
Excellent communications skills (verbal and written)
A proven track record of dependability and professionalism
Flexible approach to work and travel
Proven teaching experience
Relevant teaching qualifications
Confidence in delivery of teaching and training
Quality and compliance
To apply for this position, the minimum qualification requirements are as follows:
In possession of a relevant Level 4 teaching qualification or above (e.g. C&G 7407 Stage 1, 2 & 3, C&G 7307 Stage 1,2 & 3, CertED, PGCE, CTTLS, DTTLS);
Level 2 or above in Maths;
Level 2 or above in English and
Level 2 IT is also desirable. Should you not be in possession of this, the successful candidate must be willing to work and achieve this
This role is working at APM's West Bromwich centre
37.00 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 9.00 am to 5.30 pm and Friday, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm with an hour for lunch each day. Some flexibility will be required dependant on client/contract needs.
