Are you looking for a fulfilling role in in care, working with customers who have learning disabilities, challenging behaviours and mental health support needs?
We are looking for floating support workers, with care experience, to work full-time or part-time shifts, in the Enfield area, covering Enfield town, Palmers Green, Southgate and Edmonton. We provide floating support to our clients, which is normally several hours at a time. We support people to do things for themselves, rather than us doing things for them. We teach daily living skills and support people to attend activities such as work placements, horse riding, college etc. We prefer drivers, but this is not essential, as we also have walking shifts too. We’ll train and support you, so you can confidently deliver a great service. You’ll develop a bond with your customers, which will help you to assist them with developing their independence and working through alternative coping strategies.
You’ll be part of a team, providing support to those who may be excluded from community settings because of learning disabilities causing challenging behaviours, complex physical and sensory disabilities, acute mental illness or substance misuse. We work with individuals to help them manage specific challenges and issues in their lives within a floating support or supported living setting.
You may be:
- Assisting people through a ten step recovery programme
- Teaching alternative coping strategies
- Supporting people to manage their own behavioural issue
You’ll need a working knowledge of safeguarding processes, the ability to work as part of a team, or alone, and an understanding of the principles of empowerment. A QCF 2 in health and social care and understanding of helping people live independently is desirable, but not essential.
We will support you with:
- £8 per hour payrate
- The opportunity to study for in-house qualifications
- Paid induction and refresher training
- Free Criminal Record Check
- 28 days paid holidays
Every customer is different, so the support and help that you provide will depend on your customer’s needs, which will be assessed and regularly monitored by our quality officers.
You’ll be fully supported with practical help from our friendly office based teams and free training and supervision, to help you confidently deliver support. We have a career development plan and the opportunity to study in-house qualifications in Care. New Directions support all of our staff in their ability to excel and achieve and are always looking for support workers who want to progress further in the future.
