Full Time Instrumental Music teacher (must play piano) Private Music School- Harrow

This role is spilt between our two sites: Harrow in Greater London and High Wycombe in South Buckinghamshire. So the ideal candidate will have a car or access to a car.

Hours:

Up to 35 hours per week, 5 days a week:

The role will start in March as part-time (3 days a week in Harrow only) increasing to full time hours by September 2018 (spilt between Harrow and High Wycombe).

3 days in Harrow, exact hours to be confirmed

General Teaching duties:

  • planning and preparing lessons in relation to individual pupils' needs and examination syllabuses

  • acquiring appropriate teaching materials/resources

  • teaching music theory, aural skills and practical techniques to pupils

  • coaching students for both practical and theoretical exams

  • delivering and planning instrumental lessons for various class sizes

  • motivating pupils and encouraging progress

  • liaising with colleagues, management and parents

  • ensuring up-to-date knowledge and awareness of examination requirements

  • assessing pupils abilities, providing feedback and writing reports

  • arranging, planning and facilitating recitals/concerts for pupils' families and friends including sourcing suitable venues

  • Planning, preparing and delivering specialised workshops/music mornings/ for students clients and corporate events

  • Social Media updates



General School duties:

  • ensuring all equipment and instruments are suitably put away and secured at the end of the day

  • opening the school and setting up the equipment and instruments on early shifts

  • closing the school and carrying out the locking up procedure on late shifts

  • creating and maintaining a network of contacts to ensure work continuity

  • answering the phone and taking messages as/when necessary

  • liaising with team supervisor and school administrator as necessary and as instructed

  • other duties as requested by management

Other skills needed:

Good communication, able to build rapport with clients

Excellent written and spoken English

Experienced with teaching children, especially young beginners

Hardworking and professional

Enjoys teaching
