Our established client is recruiting for a new role within their successful operation based in Bridgend. The position will have responsibility for approximately 30 team members to ensure on a shift by shift basis all requirements of the business are met.

Responsible for ensuring that the finishing department is a safe environment for all employees, irrespective of position, or duties.

Responsible for ensuring overall product quality meets the expected requirements.

Leads and motivates their team with responsibility for manning levels to meet plan, recruitment requirements, performance management, training and development and discipline.

Responsible for reviewing and agreeing all activities within the Finishing Department to ensure optimum equipment availability in collaboration with the Maintenance Team.

Responsible for delivering Shift Briefs and reporting out at board walk meetings and daily production meetings.

Responsible for time cards, Job booking accuracy, team member holiday approval across assigned team members, ensuring adequate team members are available to meet the agreed deliverables on a shift by shift basis.

Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines and people resources.

Ensures all equipment and processes have appropriate risk assessments in place, which are reviewed on at least an annual basis and that open actions are closed out in an appropriate and timely manner.

Leads process improvement activity with other members of the finishing department in support of KPI's and company goals.

Requirements:

A degree, preferably in Engineering is preferred and/or relevant work experience in an engineering environment.

Previous management experience of larger teams, with a record of team building will be essential in this role.

Experience of working with continuous improvement tools and techniques coupled with the above is important these to include 5S, CAPA, RCA, VoE and TPS.

Knowledge of engineering principals within a machine shop environment or similar would be advantageous.

Experience of audits and the strict regulatory requirements associated with medical device.
